Approximate location. The area is clear, but the exact site is not.
The land God promised to Abraham's family. The dot marks the region. Abram, Sarai and Lot came into Canaan from Haran, and Jacob came back to it from Padan-aram. In the famine Jacob took his whole family from Canaan down to Egypt. Joshua later divided the land among the tribes.
