Opening stop: Before he had done speaking, Genesis 24:15
The servant is never named in this chapter, and Genesis never says he is the Eliezer of Damascus who was steward of Abraham's house (Genesis 15:2). His test asks for more than good manners. There are ten camels (Genesis 24:10), and she draws for all of them until they have done drinking. Rebekah hastes and runs, as Abraham did when three strangers came to his tent (Genesis 18:6-7). Until now she has been only a name in a family list (Genesis 22:23).
And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder.

Abraham sends his senior household servant to find a wife for Isaac among his kindred. Isaac must not be taken back there, and the servant is released from the oath if the woman will not come. At a well near Nahor's city, the servant prays for a woman who will offer water to him and his camels. Rebekah arrives before he finishes speaking and does so. Learning that she belongs to Abraham's family, he worships and receives hospitality. He recounts the mission before eating. Laban and Bethuel agree to the marriage, and gifts are given. When her family asks for a delay, Rebekah is asked whether she will go and says yes. She travels with her nurse and attendants. Isaac meets the arriving party, hears the servant's report and takes Rebekah as his wife. The account says he loves her and is comforted after his mother's death.
