Opening stop: Leave and go, Genesis 12:1
Abram's family had set out once already. His father Terah took them from Ur of the Chaldees towards Canaan, stopped at Haran, and died there (Genesis 11:31-32). Stephen later says God appeared to Abraham in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran (Acts 7:2). So this call picks up a journey that had stalled, and it comes with no map.
Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

The Lord addresses Abram and tells him to leave his country, relatives and father's household for a land God will show him. The following promises connect this departure with blessing for others. Abram then travels from Haran with Sarai and Lot. The passage is the account of a particular call to Abram; it does not itself instruct every reader to leave home.
