Approximate location. The area is clear, but the exact site is not.

Jacob wrestled here until dawn by the Jabbok, and he "called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face". The men of Penuel later refused bread to Gideon's army, and he came back and beat down their tower. Jeroboam later built Penuel. The exact site is debated.
