Samuel gathered Israel at Mizpah to pray, and later called them here to choose a king. After Jerusalem fell, Jeremiah stayed here with Gedaliah. The dot marks one proposed site. Many scholars prefer Tell en-Nasbeh, a few miles to the northeast.
