Maon
Identified location. The site is known today and most scholars agree on it.
A town in the hills south of Hebron with a wilderness around it. Saul hunted David in the wilderness of Maon and nearly surrounded him, then turned back when word came that the Philistines had invaded. Nabal, Abigail's husband, lived in Maon and kept his flocks at Carmel.
