Issachar

Issachar is Leah's fifth son born to Jacob. His birth follows Leah and Rachel's exchange involving Reuben's mandrakes. Genesis says God heard Leah; she explains the name by saying God has given her payment because she gave her maid to her husband. That explanation is Leah's speech. Exodus names Issachar among those who came to Egypt with Jacob and their households.
