Heth

Genesis names Heth among Canaan's children, after Sidon, who is identified as the firstborn. Chronicles repeats the genealogy. These entries give little personal detail about Heth. Later passages speak of the children of Heth and of Hittites. Genesis 23 connects those expressions in its account of Ephron the Hittite, who negotiates with Abraham before the children of Heth. The later people, their dealings and their conflicts should not be read as episodes in Heth's own life.
