Nineveh

Identified location. The site is known today and most scholars agree on it.

The great city of Assyria, on the Tigris. Jonah went into the city and cried, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." The people believed God and put on sackcloth, and God spared the city. Jonah sat outside it, angry, and the gourd that shaded him withered.
