Uncertain location. Scholars propose different sites. The dot marks one proposal.
Elijah set out from Gilgal with Elisha on the day the Lord took him up. Later, in a famine, Elisha "came again to Gilgal" and made a pot of poisoned stew safe to eat. The dot marks a hill town north of Bethel. Some scholars take this to be the Gilgal near Jericho.
