Identified location. The site is known today and most scholars agree on it.
One of the five Philistine cities. The Philistines set the captured ark beside Dagon in his temple here, and Dagon fell on his face before it. In Acts, after Philip baptized the Ethiopian, he "was found at Azotus", the Greek name of Ashdod, and preached on up to Caesarea.
