Kohath

Kohath is named with Gershon and Merari among Levi's sons. Exodus lists Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel as his sons and gives his lifespan as 133 years. Through Amram, the family record leads to Aaron and Moses. Numbers names four Kohathite families corresponding to the sons in the list. Their later tabernacle service belongs to these descendant families; the passages do not describe Kohath himself carrying the sacred objects.
